ELDER, OHIO

Smalltown USA in it’s infancy. A Midwest rural town located on the outskirts of Akron, a city that will soon become the center of the Rubber industry.

Colleen Dunn: A local young woman in love with Mark but it’s a one way street. Low morals, attractive, cheap, playful, lacking refinement, brassy, from wrong side of tracks, mother is a drunk, she manages the family restaurant, enjoys shocking the stuffy people, faithful to Mark, yearns to be a reporter.

Harold Swenson: Swedish foreman. Strapping 29 year old. 6 foot 4 with almost white hair and a singsong accent.

Frank Bennet: Detroit car-maker. Religious and moral. Strict Methodist who reads his Bible twice daily. Tall and lean. Handsome when he smiles, which is rarely. 39 years old. Wears rumpled linen suits.

Jim Malloy: Big ugly. Security guard. 30 year old. A man with guts.

Brock Sylvester: A millionaire friend of Sam Rothman and president of a large Cleveland bank.
